Mookaite is a variety of chalcedony that is only found in Western Australia, specifically in the Kennedy Ranges near Mooka Creek from which it gets its name.
Mookaite is believed to have been formed over 100 million years ago during the Cretaceous period from the skeletal remains of microscopic creatures called radiolarians that lived in the ancient sea that covered the area.
Mookaite has been used by Aboriginal people in the region for thousands of years as a healing stone and for its spiritual properties. It is believed to promote strength, vitality, and inner calm.
