A large highest grade polished clear and rainbow filled Optical Calcite cube.
Optical calcite crystals, also known as Iceland spar, were thought to be used by Viking navigators to locate the position of the sun on cloudy days.
In geology, optical calcite is used as a polarizing filter in microscopes to study the properties of rocks and minerals.
Optical calcite crystals are doubly refractive, meaning that they split a single beam of light into two beams that travel at different speeds and directions.
Optical calcite crystals have a hardness of 3 on the Mohs scale, which means they are relatively soft and can be scratched easily.
Optical calcite is said to help clear mental blockages and improve concentration and focus. It is believed to enhance intuition and provide insight into complex problems or situations.
